The Nubuke Foundation was established in 2006. It is an important art and culture centre in East Legon, Accra, Ghana. In 2019 it opened its new gallery, artists studios and library. Bold, impressive and brutalist, designed by Viennese architects, Bärbel Müller and Jürgen Strohmayer its purpose is to champion Ghanaian arts, heritage and culture. This is the main gallery raised up creating a large space beneath allowing fresh air to flow through the space naturally to help counter Accra’s hot, tropical climate. Jürgen frequently works between Vienna and Accra, together with Bärbel, they deliver projects with a strong connection to the community and its surroundings.
