A Norman church, rebuilt after the devastating bombing of 29 December 1940. This tranquil space, the burial site of John Milton, stands within the otherwise brutalist Barbican Estate. It is home, until September 19th of an art installation and exhibition by @the_jewish_square_mile

This custom-made piece maps the Barbican Estate, but look closer, beneath the modern layers lies the outline of the ancient Jewish cemetery that rests here.

The design is deliberately layered: the present-day architecture of the Barbican above, and the traces of a much older story below. A reminder that the City is never just one moment in time, but many lives, memories, and histories interwoven.
