At Netherdale football club Gala Fairydean F.C has a striking concrete stand designed by Peter Womersley in 1964, one of Scotland’s most celebrated modernist architects, he gave this Scottish Borders ground a character all its own. He is best known for his studio for Bernat Klein who designed beautiful fabrics for Chanel. This fabulous stand proves that great brutalist architecture can turn up in the most unexpected places.
