This custom-made piece maps the Barbican Estate, but look closer, beneath the modern layers lies the outline of the ancient Jewish cemetery that rests here.

The design is deliberately layered: the present-day architecture of the Barbican above, and the traces of a much older story below. A reminder that the City is never just one moment in time, but many lives, memories, and histories interwoven.

From September 5th to 16th, you can explore a new exhibition and art installation by @the_jewish_square_mile at @stgilescripplegate the ancient church in the Barbican adjacent to the site of the burial ground – bringing the medieval Jewish cemetery and its stories back to life.
