Orpheus and Eurydice Apartment Buildings, (1971-1973) Ungererstraße in the Schwabing district of Munich. The two blocks, connected by a garden designed by Gottfried Hansjakob now have protected ‘Preservation of Monuments’ status. It’s noted by Süeddeutsche Zeitung that this was the first large residential complex to be built in Munich after WW2 and the Munich Olympics. The demolishing of a much-loved cinema will remove an architectural gem in Panevėžys, Lithuania and people who live there are asking for our help. Completed in 1968 it has a genuinely rich history. The town is also home to a famous theatre company whose leading light and local hero was Donatas Banionis, the star of Andrei Tarkovsky’s film ‘Solaris’.
