The Naval Hospital, Caballito, Buenos Aires by Clorindo Testa (1977-81) @alfienoakester who has traveled widely in Argentina and took this photo notes “the naval theme can be seen in the porthole windows and the blue tiling that the building is covered in.” Designed by Italian-Argentinian architect Clorindo Testa together with Juan Hector Lacarra and Juan Genoud, they won the competition to build it and brilliantly exploited that naval theme using concrete and aqua coloured tiles, which has left some likening the building to a ship moored in the heart of the city. (facade from front over at @greyscapeworld ) This photo of an important brutalist building, partially named for the ‘Navy’ was built a few years before the junta, the military takeover in Argentina. we want to take a moment to remember the history, the participation of elements of the Navy, the victims and the ‘disappeared ...desaparecidos’
