Definitely one for the concrete community with tha Definitely one for the concrete community with thanks to Architectural Designer @todoroky_ for the photo and for describing this building which forms part of Osaka University of Arts. The architect, who is Japanese and a Pritzker Architecture Prize winner is Kazuyo Sejima.

‘You become very aware of the building’s location as its the first thing one sees when climbing the slope leading from the university entrance, the building was designed to integrate with the hill and become a space open to all, similar to a park’.

‘The concrete slab that surrounds the glass cylinder in which the interior space is housed, is a three-dimensional curved surface that serves as an eave, a conduit between the upper and lower floors, and a semi-outdoor terrace.
The three-story building can be accessed from all directions, giving a strong sense of connection to the outside even from the interior spaces’.
La Serra Complex, Olivetti, Ivrea Adriano Olivett La Serra Complex, Olivetti, Ivrea

Adriano Olivetti was a man ahead of his time. He believed that meaningfully improving the lives of his workforce was the right thing to do and would make his company, Olivetti a world-leading brand, more successful. Even today the innovations Adriano introduced remain the ideal. Decent staff housing, a nursery, social facilities, green spaces and art were introduced at the Olivetti factory in Ivrea, a small town near Turin where Camillo, Adriano’s father, was born. At one time a large portion of Olivetti’s 14,000 strong Italian workforce lived in the town. Image with thanks to @nickballon New post. Link in bio
